# Quickstart

> Create a site, add one script tag, and watch your first visitor arrive in the realtime view. About five minutes, no build step needed.

## 1. Create a site

[Sign up](https://app.invisit.dev/auth) with email, Google or GitHub. Your account starts with a workspace of its own; add a site to it with the domain it runs on, such as `example.com`.

## 2. Add the tracker

Open **Settings → Installation** for the site. It shows your **site id** and a snippet with it filled in. Paste the snippet into the `<head>` of every page:

```html title="index.html"
<script
  async
  src="https://api.invisit.dev/invisit.js"
  data-site="<site id>"
  data-collector="https://api.invisit.dev"
></script>
```

Using a bundler or a framework? Install the package instead and call `init()` once in the browser:

```sh title="Terminal"
npm install @invisitdev/web
```

```ts title="src/main.ts"
import { init } from '@invisitdev/web'
init({ site: '<site id>' })
```

> [!NOTE]
> The site id is public and never changes. It is safe in client code and in `PUBLIC_` or `NEXT_PUBLIC_` environment variables.

## 3. Check that it works

Deploy, open your site in a new tab, then open **Realtime** in the dashboard. Your visit shows up within a few seconds. If nothing arrives, **Settings → Blocked traffic** lists what the collector refused for the site over the last 14 days, and why. The most common cause is a domain missing from **Settings → Collection**.

Ad blockers that block third-party analytics hosts can hide your own visit. Add the [first-party proxy](https://invisit.dev/docs/server/sdk.md) to measure those visitors too.
