What is Bravebot?
Brave Search's crawler, which discovers and indexes pages for Brave Search. Brave says it does not advertise a separate user agent.
Crawls pages for a classic search index. Blocking it removes you from that search engine.
Brave says its crawler will not crawl a page that Googlebot may not crawl, so your Googlebot rules decide. Brave documents no Bravebot user agent, so requests using that name cannot be checked against Brave's docs.
Should you block Bravebot?
Allow it unless you want out of that search engine. Blocking a major search crawler removes your pages from its results.
How to block Bravebot in robots.txt
Brave documents no robots.txt token for Bravebot that we could confirm, so we don’t suggest one here. Block it at your server or firewall by user agent instead.
Brave says to use the robots noindex directive, not robots.txt, to remove a page from its index.
How to verify a request is really Bravebot
Anyone can send any user agent, so the string alone proves nothing.
Brave publishes no IP ranges or DNS names for Bravebot that we could find, so there is no reliable way to tell a real Bravebot from a scraper using its user agent.
See when Bravebot reads your site
Bots don’t run JavaScript analytics, so a script tag never sees them. invisit records crawler reads on the server instead, through its server SDK or a Cloudflare Worker, and shows which bots read which pages, next to your visitors.
